Does crypto money qualify? Yes — with one condition.
The authorities assess the registered property, not the asset class that funded it. A DLD-registered purchase of AED 2 million or more qualifies its owner for the Golden Visa whether the money began as dirhams, dollars, or Bitcoin. The one condition is the one this office never bends: the crypto must convert through regulated channels, with source of funds documented. Holding crypto alone confers no residency rights anywhere in the UAE; converting it into a title deed does.
What the visa gives you
- 10-year renewable residency — no employer, no sponsor, no minimum stay to keep it valid
- Family included — spouse and children sponsored under your visa
- The tax position — UAE residents pay no personal income or capital-gains tax, including on digital assets (tax residency generally requires real presence — typically 183 days — and home-country rules still matter; take advice)
- Banking that works — residency unlocks UAE banking, where crypto-sourced wealth with clean documentation is an accepted story
The route, end to end
- Purchase at AED 2M+ — ready or off-plan, single property or portfolio
- Title deed issued at DLD — the office's standard rail
- Golden Visa application — medicals, biometrics, Emirates ID; the office coordinates the entire file
- Visa issued — typically two to four weeks after title
Thresholds and conditions summarise public rules as at September 2026 and can change; the AED 2M property route survived the 2025–26 revisions intact. Current requirements are confirmed in writing at engagement. For tax residency and home-country consequences, the office works alongside your tax counsel.
